Al Naturale at the Historic South Melbourne Market

If you’re looking for a vibrant way to spend your weekend, there’s no better place to head than the iconic South Melbourne Market especially now that Al Naturale has taken up a stall there! Established back in 1867, the South Melbourne Market originally served as a hub for fresh produce grown in the nearby market gardens of Cheltenham. Over the years, it has evolved into a bustling destination where you can find everything from artisan goods to gourmet treats, all in a charming Victorian-era setting framed by wood and red brick accents.

A visit to this market isn’t just about shopping it’s a slice of Melbourne’s culinary history. The market is famed for its legendary dim sims, a recipe credited to chef Ken Cheng, which have delighted locals and visitors for generations. Although the market has encountered its fair share of challenges, including notable fires one of the worst incidents occurring in 1981 that led to the loss of original sheds—and even bomb damage later that year, it has always bounced back stronger than before. Significant refurbishments in 2007/2008 transformed its produce areas into modern, more functional spaces, and in 2012 a new roof was added, not only to protect from leaks but also to better manage heat during the warmer months.

Now, from this historic and evolving marketplace, we’re thrilled to announce that Al Naturale has been setting up shop here until 2025! Known for quality, health-focused bites and unique seasonal treats, Al Naturale invites you to come by and sample a selection of tasters and snacks. It’s the perfect opportunity to experience wholesome goodness while strolling through the eclectic mix of stalls, picking up fresh produce, and absorbing the market’s lively atmosphere.

Can’t make it before their time at South Melbourne Market is up? No worries! Al Naturale will always welcome you at their main location at 6 Acland Street in St Kilda, where their passion for fresh, natural flavors continues year-round.

Whether you’re a longtime local or a first-time visitor, head to the South Melbourne Market to enjoy a piece of Melbourne’s storied past and savor the latest additions to its ever-changing culinary landscape. Don’t forget to drop by Al Naturale’s stall taste a bit of what makes Melbourne’s food scene so special and carry the memory home with you.
